Former charity PR and fundraiser, copywriter and teacher of creative writing in Adult Education, Jackie now owns her own small business teaching and editing for new and published writers. For four years Jackie was also a book reviewer and monthly contributor of short stories for Chase Magazine. Following first chapter and short story competition successes, Jackie’s first novel, Glass Houses (domestic noir), was published by Urbane Publications in 2016. Her self-help memoir, Tea & Chemo, was published as part of the same deal, evolving from the popularity of her upbeat blog posts on cancer. Tea & Chemo was Live Better With's 'Best Cancer Book, 2017 and sat in the Amazon Oncology Top Ten for five years, as well as enjoying multiple print runs.
Jackie is also a regular speaker on radio, in libraries and book festivals, and volunteers for Yorkshire Cancer Research in fundraising and publicity events.
Jackie lives in Yorkshire with her husband and staggeringly grown up, visiting children. When not writing, reading or teaching, she can generally be found running about outside.
