After (optional) yoga, and a home-cooked, hearty breakfast, each day begins with a writing workshop with Jackie, followed by lunch.
The afternoon offers a good chunk of personal writing time in and around the lodge, or the opportunity to join our incredibly knowledgeable local guide in a range of tours: exploring the Tatra mountains; strolling around the impressive lakes and sampling the traditional Slovak tavernas at Strbske Pleso, or simply being transported to a celebrated local spa.

We meet back late afternoon for a tutor-led speed writing session to keep those creative juices flowing. Pre-dinner it’s our, ‘collective writing day therapy and celebration’, commonly known as, Wine (or Soft Drink) O’clock. A wholesome home-cooked meal is next, courtesy of our bubbly in-house chef, or dinner in a favourite Slovak restaurant. On two nights, we’re entertained with an after-dinner talk from our friendly guide on Slovak culture and history, and an Open Mike session enjoying your favourite pieces of writing.
In place of one morning’s tutorial, Jackie offers a 1:1 feedback session on your chosen extract and throughout the week, you’ll often find Jackie ‘hanging around’, happy to help with some impromptu brainstorming or to drag you out on a run...
