Writing Courses...

Do you slog through the day job, squeezing in everybody else's demands on your time, when all you really want to do is write your novel? Sometimes, you just need that push, helping hand, or the support of an (enthusiastic) tutor and (empathetic) seven class mates to make it happen...
My third Novel in a Year course is all set to begin again in September, in Harrogate, where eight writers meet for ten monthly morning sessions over the year. We look at the structure and mechanics of a story in stages as it weaves its way from first to last page, and we include lots of feedback on every student's novel as it progresses.
In between sessions there's the small matter of the next 7-10,000 words of the novel to be written. It’s eminently possible, honestly, and this course will help you reach what might at first appear, an impossible goal. For further information, please

My next Short Story Writing course (which includes a bucket load of feedback, mutual support and applause), begins in September. You'll be asked to bring one short story to every one of the five monthly sessions. A loose theme and specfic element of writing will be introduced in a quick tutorial in class and we'll use various writing prompts to get you started- after that, the story is all yours! This is a great opportunity to learn whilst writing, creating a tidy collection of five of your own short stories by the end of the course. Class size is small: max five people, so please enquire early if you're interested. For further information, please
